Mr. John Mututho consults with the Vice Chancellor Prof. P. M. Mbithi during the IDADA occassion

There was pomp and color at the as the University of Nairobi, staff, students and invited guests commemorated the World International Day against drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking which was held at the Chancellors square. Present at the function was the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter Mbithi, accompanied by the DVC Student Affairs, Prof. Mbeche, DVC Administration and Finance, Prof B.N.K Njoroge and the DVC Academic Affaire among other top University of Nairobi officers.

The chief guest of the day was NACADA chairman Mr. John Mututho who was evidently glad to be in the midst of the Vice Chancellor since both of them are Alma Mata of the University of Nairobi. During his address, Mr. Mututho vowed to work together with the University of Nairobi management to completely weed out criminal elements that have infiltrated the student community and to get to the source of illegal substances that find their way into the halls of residence.

Entertainment was in abundant as various University students’ artists entertained the guests together with great national acts like Mr. Seed, Tusker Project Fame winner, Ruth Matete lighting up the stage. Tents were erected at the event which acted as testing areas where students and staff could go and get tested for HIV and also have their blood pressure and sugar taken. The chief guest set the pace for this exercise as he to got tested and urged students and staff to know their status.
